Tenants can work together to save energy
RESIDENTS who live in blocks of flats are being encouraged to tackle heat loss from communal areas with energy-saving tips.
Leaseholders Support an organisation which helps flat owners gave the advice to coincide with Energy Saving Week, which ran between October 22 and October 28. The tips, aimed at improving energy efficiency in self-managed areas, include making sure the communal areas are well insulated and have been draught-proofed.They also advise using an energy testing box to monitor the energy used in communal areas and publish the results so leaseholders can see how much they are using and how much it is costing them. The tips also say householders should repair damaged windows and use energy-saving light bulbs with daylight sensors and motion sensors.
