History of Windsor

The borough was formed on the 1st April 1974 through the Local Government Act 1972. The borough was the combination of the boroughs of Maidenhead and Windsor, the rural districts of Cookhan and Windsor, the Eton urban district and the parishes of Datchet, Horton and Wraysbury.

Aside from this, locals can walk endlessly around Windsor Great Park and spot the beautiful deer, while in the summer, the locals can take a riverboat ride down the Thames.

This is seen through the 200 war memorials in Windsor, Maidenhead and the surrounding villages, which were funded by the Heritage Lottery.
