"Great customer service and professionalism. The lettings advisor at Ringley that I interacted with has a pleasant attitude and provided knowledgeable resources that enabled me to settled into my apartment seamless. She took me around the Mailbox building showing me the GYM, the refuse disposal point at the basement etc . She also took me through how to operate the appliances in my apartment, she is dedicated to her job."

"We have had a problem with noise from the flat above us in Lady Isle House Ferry Court Cardiff. We contacted a Mr Paul Staniforth who immediately became involved and addressed the situation. We really do appreciate what he has done for us and cannot thank him enough. Once again a big thank you to Mr Staniforth. The noise above was intolerable."

Hemel Hempstead - Cultural Scene
Although Hemel Hempstead is a 'new town', the area has a rich history. Originally forested, the land was gradually cleared and there is evidence that Neolithic, Iron Age and Bronze Age people lived in the area, although not all at the same time.
The origin of the word Hemel probably comes from "Haemele", the name of this district in the 8th century (most probably from the name of the person who owned it). It is also suggested that Haemele means the confluence of two rivers, which in this case would be the Gade and the Bulbourne. The book The History of Hemel Hempstead, published by the Hemel Hempstead Local History and Records Society, states: "Hemel Hempstead itself first appears in written records in the eighth century when the lands of the district of Hamele (Haemele is probably a personal name) were on loan from Offa, King of Essex, to the Bishop of London in AD 705. Then, in the appendix of the same book, it says: "First mentioned in the 8th century, this name probably means broken (OE hamol, hamel)." The combined name is called "Hamelamesede" in the Domesday Book , but became Hamelhamsted over the following centuries. The word Hempstead probably derives from "hamstede", which means farm.
The Romans
The importance of the area in Roman times depended on its proximity to the village of Verulamium (St. Albans). Raw materials were traded and in exchange they bought pottery, wine and cloth from the city merchants. Roman villas have been excavated at Boxmoor and the remains of a large villa with swimming pool have been found in Gadebridge.
The Saxons
There is little concrete evidence of the Saxon occupation of the area, but some documents from the time refer to Hemel Hempstead as "Hamele". In 704 land rights were granted to the Bishop of London by decree of the King of Essex.
The Normans
Most of the information from this period comes from the "Domesday Book", an investigation conducted on his new land for William the Conqueror in 1086. He informs us that Hemel Hempstead:
* had 1800 hectares of forest
* belonged to Robert, Earl of Mortain (William's half-brother)

Have you ever visited the old town's main street in Hemel Hempstead? Nope? You get a reward. It's a quirky centre, with cobbled streets, independent shops, cafes and restaurants. Pride of place is occupied by the Old Town Hall, a building that has a patina of laughter and singing from the performances that have brought the house down since 1978. The building itself has been here since 1852. I think it's appropriate to mention the name to set the mood.
