Block Management Thanet

Thanet's No 1 Managing agent

Block and Estate Management is about the minutia done well: the role of a Managing Agent is technical, administrative, practical and political. It takes joined up thinking to do what we do well as well as sufficient resource to react to whatever is necessary day-to-day.

As a Managing Agent we know our true business is building relationships with people. Our people are empowered and know that they can make a difference to how people feel about where they live. We call our 'Property Manager's 'Relationship Managers’ to embody our values which are to build relationships, add value, and to take the initiative. We lead the market in transparency and focusing on risk, cash, repairs and place making, usually in that order, and was the first Managing Agent to introduce a ' money back guarantee ’.

Being who we are would be impossible without our passionately committed people, whose qualifications we sponsor and who we support professionally to be the best they can be, as achieving a national training award and our Silver IIP status confirms.

History of Thanet

Thanet is a local government district in kent which was formed under the Local Government Act in 1972, but it only came into being on 1 April 1974. A major component of the district is the Isle of Thanet, which has historically borne the brunt of many of the invasions by the rest of the continent.

The Isle of Thanet, located in Kent, England, has a rich and fascinating history that dates back to ancient times. Originally separated from the mainland by the Wantsum Channel, Thanet was once a true island. Archaeological evidence reveals that it was a significant area of settlement during the Stone Age, and later became a landing site for the Romans. The early-Christian missionary St. Augustine arrived in Thanet in 597 AD, marking the beginning of the Christian faith in England. The island's name is thought to have Brythonic origins, possibly meaning "bright island" or "place of holm oaks," reflecting its natural beauty

During the medieval period, Thanet played a vital role in England's defense and trade. The Normans constructed numerous churches in the area, many of which still stand today. By the 18th century, Thanet's coastal towns, including Margate, Broadstairs, and Ramsgate, became popular seaside resorts, thanks to the growing passion for saltwater bathing. These towns attracted famous figures such as Charles Dickens, who adored Broadstairs, and J.M.W. Turner, who was inspired by Margate's stunning sunsets. Thanet's Georgian, Regency, and Victorian architecture remains a testament to this era of prosperity

In the 20th century, Thanet continued to evolve, contributing to significant historical events. Ramsgate played a crucial role during World War II, sending "little ships" to Dunkirk and welcoming thousands of soldiers back from France. The area also became a hub for aviation history, with RAF Manston serving as an airfield during both World Wars. Today, Thanet is celebrated for its vibrant cultural scene, historical landmarks, and picturesque coastal landscapes, making it a unique and cherished part of England
