Block Management Parsons Green

Parsons Green's No 1 Managing agent

Block and Estate Management is about the minutia done well: the role of a Managing Agent is technical, administrative, practical and political. It takes joined up thinking to do what we do well as well as sufficient resource to react to whatever is necessary day-to-day.

As a Managing Agent we know our true business is building relationships with people. Our people are empowered and know that they can make a difference to how people feel about where they live. We call our 'Property Manager's 'Relationship Managers’ to embody our values which are to build relationships, add value, and to take the initiative. We lead the market in transparency and focusing on risk, cash, repairs and place making, usually in that order, and was the first Managing Agent to introduce a ' money back guarantee ’.

Being who we are would be impossible without our passionately committed people, whose qualifications we sponsor and who we support professionally to be the best they can be, as achieving a national training award and our Silver IIP status confirms.

History of Parsons Green

Parsons Green, located in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, has a rich history that reflects its evolution from rural farmland to a desirable urban neighborhood.

Origins and Early Development

The name "Parsons Green" originates from the rectors of Fulham Parish, who resided near this area in the 14th century. The green itself was likely used as a private bowling green by the parish parson. Archaeological evidence suggests earlier habitation, with an Iron Age settlement discovered beneath Lady Margaret School during renovations in 1996.

18th and 19th Centuries: Rise of the Gentry

By the 18th century, Parsons Green had transformed into a fashionable retreat for London's wealthy elite. Merchants, bankers, and courtiers constructed grand villas surrounded by expansive gardens. Notably, Samuel Richardson, the 18th-century novelist, resided in the area, and Maria Fitzherbert, the companion and illicit wife of George, Prince of Wales, lived at East End House.

The arrival of the Midland District Railway in 1880, now part of the London Underground's District line, further integrated Parsons Green into London's urban fabric, making it more accessible and accelerating its development.

20th Century to Present: Suburban Expansion and Preservation

In the early 20th century, the area saw the construction of distinctive "lion houses" on Studdridge Street, characterized by lion motifs on their facades. These were built in 1899, with an amusing anecdote that the developer ordered ten times as many lions as needed.

Today, Parsons Green is recognized as a conservation area, preserving its historical architecture and green spaces. The community continues to celebrate its heritage through events like the annual "Fair on the Green," fostering a strong local identity.

From its medieval origins to its status as a sought-after residential area, Parsons Green exemplifies London's dynamic history and the enduring appeal of its neighborhoods.
