Block Management New Southgate

New Southgate's No 1 Managing agent

Block and Estate Management is about the minutia done well: the role of a Managing Agent is technical, administrative, practical and political. It takes joined up thinking to do what we do well as well as sufficient resource to react to whatever is necessary day-to-day.

As a Managing Agent we know our true business is building relationships with people. Our people are empowered and know that they can make a difference to how people feel about where they live. We call our 'Property Manager's 'Relationship Managers’ to embody our values which are to build relationships, add value, and to take the initiative. We lead the market in transparency and focusing on risk, cash, repairs and place making, usually in that order, and was the first Managing Agent to introduce a ' money back guarantee ’.

Being who we are would be impossible without our passionately committed people, whose qualifications we sponsor and who we support professionally to be the best they can be, as achieving a national training award and our Silver IIP status confirms.

We really do appreciate what he has done for us and cannot thank him enough. Once again a big thank you to Mr Staniforth. The noise above was intolerable."

History of New Southgate

New Southgate, a residential suburb in North London, has a rich history that reflects its evolution from rural hamlet to urban community. In the mid-19th century, the area was known as Betstile, centered around a crossroads with Betstile House and Betstile Lodge. As part of the Municipal Borough of Southgate, Betstile began to develop into a more urbanized area. The establishment of the Colney Hatch Lunatic Asylum in 1851, later known as Friern Hospital, significantly influenced the area's development. The asylum's presence led to the construction of the New Southgate railway station in 1850, initially named Colney Hatch & Southgate, to serve the institution. Over time, the name "New Southgate" was adopted to distance the area from the stigma associated with the asylum, and the station underwent several renamings before settling on its current name in 1971.

The late 19th and early 20th centuries saw further development in New Southgate. St Paul's Church, consecrated in 1873, became a central place of worship for the growing community. By the 1930s, the construction of the North Circular Road facilitated increased connectivity and urban expansion. In the post-World War II era, the area underwent significant redevelopment. In 1956, Southgate Borough Council announced plans to rebuild New Southgate, leading to the construction of tower blocks in Highview Gardens starting in 1959. The redevelopment continued under Enfield Borough Council after 1965, culminating in the transformation of the former Friern Hospital site into residential estates, Princess Park Manor and Friern Village. Today, New Southgate is a vibrant community that blends its historical roots with modern development.
