Block Management City of Winchester

City of Winchester's No 1 Managing agent

Block and Estate Management is about the minutia done well: the role of a Managing Agent is technical, administrative, practical and political. It takes joined up thinking to do what we do well as well as sufficient resource to react to whatever is necessary day-to-day.

As a Managing Agent we know our true business is building relationships with people. Our people are empowered and know that they can make a difference to how people feel about where they live. We call our 'Property Manager's 'Relationship Managers’ to embody our values which are to build relationships, add value, and to take the initiative. We lead the market in transparency and focusing on risk, cash, repairs and place making, usually in that order, and was the first Managing Agent to introduce a ' money back guarantee ’.

Being who we are would be impossible without our passionately committed people, whose qualifications we sponsor and who we support professionally to be the best they can be, as achieving a national training award and our Silver IIP status confirms.

History of City of Winchester

The City of Winchester, located in Hampshire, England, is a city with a long and rich history that dates back over two millennia. Initially settled by the Celtic Belgae tribe around 150 BC, it was later developed into a significant Roman town known as Venta Belgarum. The Romans established key infrastructure such as streets, temples, and public baths, laying the foundation for what would become a vibrant settlement. In the 9th century, during the Anglo-Saxon period, Winchester rose to prominence as the capital of Wessex under Alfred the Great and played a central role in the unification of England.

Following the Norman Conquest, Winchester's influence gradually waned as London emerged as the new political and economic center of England. Nevertheless, Winchester's historical significance endured, with landmarks such as Winchester Cathedral symbolizing its cultural and architectural legacy. The city continued to thrive through the medieval period and into the modern era, and today, it remains a city steeped in history. The City of Winchester district was formed in 1974, combining the City of Winchester with surrounding areas such as Droxford Rural District, preserving both its heritage and its role as an important local government hub in Hampshire.
