What is Multiple Dwellings Relief (MDR), and why was it introduced?
Multiple Dwellings Relief (MDR) was introduced in 2011 to encourage investment in residential properties by lowering Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) rates for buyers acquiring interests in multiple dwellings within a single transaction.
