What are the rules around overcrowding of rental accommodation?
Rule 1 - Two people, over 10 years old, of different sexes, who are not a couple sleeping in the same room is deemed overcrowding.
Rule 2 - there are insufficient rooms for sleeping compared to the number of people living in the household, (children aged 1 to 9 count as half a person, and babies under 1 are not considered).
Rule 3 - rooms for sleeping are too small (rooms smaller than 4.65 square meters (50 square feet) are not counted). Only bedrooms, living rooms, and other sleeping rooms are considered for this rule.
