Block Management Tooting
As a specialist Block Management Company we are operating in Tooting.
History of Tooting
Tooting is part of south London, and is located 5 miles south-west of Charing Cross. Since pre-Saxon times, Tooting has been settled, and its name is of Anglo-Saxon origin, but the name is disputed: it could be the people of Tota, which may refer to Tota as a local Anglo-Saxon chieftain. Or it could be derived from an old meaning of the verb to tout, to look out. In this latter context, there may have been a watchtower here on the road to London, with the description, the people of the look-out post.
Much of Tooting's building development took place in the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. However, another large development took place during the 1920s and 1930s.
In 1902, the Tooting library opened, and was granted a second storey in 1906. The library was extended and refurbished in 2012.
In 1902, the Tooting Bec Lido opened; in 1930, St. Benedict's Hospital was established by the London County Council; in 1931, the Granada Cinema opened, with the film Monte Carlo; in 1954, St. George's Hospital was opened; and in 2003, redevelopment of the hospital's buildings were completed.
