Block and Estate Management is about the minutia done well: the role of a Managing Agent is technical, administrative, practical and political. It takes joined up thinking to do what we do well as well as sufficient resource to react to whatever is necessary day-to-day.
As a Managing Agent we know our true business is building relationships with people. Our people are empowered and know that they can make a difference to how people feel about where they live. We call our 'Property Manager's 'Relationship Managers’ to embody our values which are to build relationships, add value, and to take the initiative. We lead the market in transparency and focusing on risk, cash, repairs and place making, usually in that order, and was the first Managing Agent to introduce a ' money back guarantee ’.
Being who we are would be impossible without our passionately committed people, whose qualifications we sponsor and who we support professionally to be the best they can be, as achieving a national training award and our Silver IIP status confirms.

Peterborough’s history stretches back thousands of years, with evidence of early human settlement seen most notably at Flag Fen, a remarkable Bronze Age site discovered near Fengate. During Roman Britain, the region was integrated into a broader network of Roman roads and settlements, and the Nene Valley became known for producing “Nene Valley Ware” ceramics. In the Anglo-Saxon period, the settlement was known as Medeshamstede meaning “meadow homestead” and grew around a monastic foundation that served as a key religious and cultural centre. The name "Peterborough" came later, evolving from the abbey’s dedication to Saint Peter and the Old English term burh, meaning a fortified place. The city’s spiritual and architectural heart, Peterborough Cathedral (originally the Abbey Church of St Peter, St Paul and St Andrew), began construction in 1118 and was largely completed by 1238. It became the final resting place of Catherine of Aragon and, for a time, Mary, Queen of Scots. Adjacent to the cathedral stood Peterborough Castle, a Norman motte and bailey built by Abbot Thorold, though little remains of it today beyond earthworks.
Throughout the medieval period, Peterborough remained a modest market town centred around the abbey, local trade, and access to the River Nene. From the 17th to 19th centuries, the draining of the Fens significantly increased agricultural productivity and spurred regional economic growth. However, it was the arrival of the railway in the 19th century that truly transformed the city. Peterborough’s strategic position on the London–York and cross-country lines catalysed rapid industrialisation, notably in brickmaking and manufacturing, and triggered a surge in population. In the aftermath of World War II, Peterborough was designated an "expanded town" to accommodate overspill from London, prompting the development of new housing estates and suburban infrastructure. Though it suffered damage during wartime bombing raids, the city rebounded with regeneration efforts from the 1970s onward. Its population nearly doubled within decades, and today, Peterborough continues to invest in urban renewal, infrastructure, and large-scale redevelopment projects such as the revitalisation of the Station Quarter shaping it into a dynamic, modern regional centre.

Peterborough Cathedral & Precincts: The cathedral, with its mix of Norman, Gothic and later styles, is a focal point. Guided tours, tower visits and exhibitions within the precinct provide insights into its history.
Flag Fen Archaeology Park: A major Bronze Age site with preserved timber trackways, reconstructions, artefacts and interactive displays.
Longthorpe Tower: A 14th-century tower house known for its rare medieval wall paintings depicting religious, mythical, and domestic scenes.
Embassy Theatre: Historic Art Deco theatre which hosted films and performances; the Beatles famously played there in 1962 and 1963.
Ferry Meadows / Nene Park: A large country park along the River Nene offering walking, cycling, boating, picnic areas and nature trails.
Queensgate Shopping Centre & Westgate / Rivergate precincts: Main retail hubs with national chains and independents.
Local Museums & Archives: The city archive and heritage projects (e.g. city’s archive service, local history collections) present exhibitions, talks and events.
Walking & Cycling, the Green Wheel: Peterborough’s “Green Wheel” is a 45‑mile network of cycle/footpaths and bridleways linking parks, open spaces and the city’s perimeter.
Local Events & Festivals: The city hosts arts, music, and cultural events throughout the year (concerts, theatre, street events) especially within the city centre and parks.
Peterborough is culturally diverse, with a cosmopolitan character influenced by inward migration and commuting links.
The arts and heritage sector is active: theatre companies, community arts groups, gallery exhibitions, heritage open days and archive engagement (e.g. the “Forty Years On” project) are part of its cultural fabric.
The Cathedral itself acts as both a religious and cultural venue, hosting music concerts, services, tours and community events.
The local theatre, cinema, live music venues, festivals and events (especially in the summer) contribute to local life.
Peterborough’s setting (rivers, fenland, open spaces) also shapes outdoor cultural and leisure life (walking festivals, nature events, activities in parks).
