The construction of Eastern Avenue in the 1920s spurred further development, turning Newbury Park into a residential neighborhood.
The area's growth was further accelerated by the opening of Newbury Park railway station on 1 May 1903, as part of the Great Eastern Railway's Fairlop Loop. This line aimed to stimulate suburban growth and connected the area to central London. In 1947, the station was transferred to the London Underground, becoming part of the Central line.
