Block Management Langley
As a specialist Block Management Company we are operating in Langley.
History of Langley
Langley, Berkshire, is situated 19 miles west of central London. Its name originates from two Middle English words: langmeaning long and leah,a wood or clearing. The village first consisted of names such as Middle Green, or George Green.
The village remained much the same for many centuries. However, major developments took place in the 20th century: the Hawker Aircraft Company bought Parlaunt Farm at Langley in 1938, and built a major factory and airfield there. Over 9,000 military aircraft were manufactured at the site, especially the Hurricane, and also the Tempest and Sea Fury, during World War II (1939-1945).
The Ford Motor Company opened a commercial vehicle component factory at Langley Airfield in 1949, and bought the entire site from Hawker Siddeley 1959. The previous aircraft factory was re-used for commercial vehicle manufacture, and the Ford Transit was created here.
The factory site was demolished in 1998, and has since been redeveloped, with new housing, offices and warehouses, including Royal Mail's International Mail Centre, which services Heathrow Airport, nearby.
