Block Management Dover

Dover's No 1 Managing agent

Block and Estate Management is about the minutia done well: the role of a Managing Agent is technical, administrative, practical and political. It takes joined up thinking to do what we do well as well as sufficient resource to react to whatever is necessary day-to-day.

As a Managing Agent we know our true business is building relationships with people. Our people are empowered and know that they can make a difference to how people feel about where they live. We call our 'Property Manager's 'Relationship Managers’ to embody our values which are to build relationships, add value, and to take the initiative. We lead the market in transparency and focusing on risk, cash, repairs and place making, usually in that order, and was the first Managing Agent to introduce a ' money back guarantee ’.

Being who we are would be impossible without our passionately committed people, whose qualifications we sponsor and who we support professionally to be the best they can be, as achieving a national training award and our Silver IIP status confirms.

Block Management Reviews

"The lettings agent was very helpful and ensured a smooth process"

"We've had some issues recently with a leak in our flat's ceiling in Prospect Place. The onsite caretaker has been round on several occasions now to assess and repair the damage. He's been incredibly friendly and explained the process at each step. He's persevered through a lengthy repair process with a few hurdles to overcome and has generally been a credit to Ringley!"

"We have had a problem with noise from the flat above us in Lady Isle House Ferry Court Cardiff. We contacted a Mr Paul Staniforth who immediately became involved and addressed the situation. We really do appreciate what he has done for us and cannot thank him enough. Once again a big thank you to Mr Staniforth. The noise above was intolerable."

History of Dover

Dover, a historic town on the southeastern coast of England, has a rich and strategic history shaped by its proximity to mainland Europe. The district was formed on 1 April 1974 through the merger of the boroughs of Deal, Dover, and Sandwich, along with parts of Dover Rural District and Eastry Rural District. Dover's origins trace back to prehistoric times, with evidence of Neolithic and Bronze Age settlements. During the Roman period, Dover, known as Portus Dubris, became an essential port for trade and military operations, with Roman-built fortifications and lighthouses still visible today.

In the medieval period, Dover grew in importance as one of the Cinque Ports, a group of coastal towns that played a vital role in trade and defense. Dover Castle, known as the "Key to England," was constructed to safeguard the country from potential invasions. The town's strategic location also made it a key site during the World Wars, especially during the Dunkirk evacuation in World War II. Today, Dover remains a bustling port town, famous for its iconic White Cliffs, historical landmarks like Dover Castle and the Roman Painted House, and its role as a gateway between the UK and mainland Europe.

Local culture and history in Dover

Dover Castle, established by William the Conqueror and expanded by Henry II, is enticing visitors with a new after-hours feature: the "Dover Castle Under Siege" experience. Attracting over 270,000 visitors in 2023, this historic site offers immersive tours of its medieval and Georgian tunnels, which were constructed to strengthen defenses against sieges and Napoleon's invasion threats. The site also features interactive games to educate children on siege warfare, as well as a multimedia exhibition revealing the castle's extensive history. Visitors can now stay in on-site holiday cottages, granting exclusive after-hours access to explore the fortress.

Maison Dieu, dating back to 1203, is steeped in history and tells a fascinating story with changes in uses over time. Originally built as a hostel for pilgrims en-route to Thomas Becket's Shrine at Canterbury, it later served as a naval victualling depot. The building underwent refurbishment by Victorian architects Ambrose Poynter and William Burges, transforming it into the town hall and gaol. From 1st April to 31st October, visitors can explore the building during guided tours provided by the Dover Society.

Dover Museum showcases a fascinating collection telling Dover's rich and important history. Within the museum, the Bronze Age Boat Gallery exhibits the oldest known seagoing vessel thought to be some 3,000 years old. This unique artifact offers insight into the maritime heritage of the region. The museum provides a comprehensive look at Dover's past, from prehistoric times to the present day.
