Block Management Overview

Management is about the minutia done well. It takes a team across a range of disciplines to deal with the multiple facets of block and estate management: politics, building pathology, finance, legal knowhow and of course customer service too.

At Ringley we believe in joined up thinking and commit to signpost Clients on all things property - even if outside our day-to-day management remit

Our true business is building relationships with our people. Our people really know that they can make a difference to our residents. We match our people to what each site needs to be achieved, with you in mind. We lead the market in transparency and focusing on risk, cash, repairs and place making, usually in that order.

We are not shy of hard work and believe our ability to get stuck in and find solutions that sets us apart. We are innovative to the core and committed to implementing good ideas in pursuit of 5* service.

Being who we are would be impossible without our passionately committed people, whose qualifications we sponsor and who we support professionally to be the best they can be, as achieving a national training award and our Silver IIP status confirms.

History of Croydon

Since the majority of place names in the area are from an Anglo-Saxon origin, the theory acknowledged by most language experts, is that the name Croydon, derives originally from the Anglo-Saxon 'croh', meaning 'crocus' and 'denu' meaning 'valley'. This indicated that the area of croydon, once was a centre for the cultivation of Saffron.

Aside from that, the town lies on the Roman Road from London to Portsdale, with some archaeological evidence of there being a Roman Settlement in the area.

Property values

In the last 12 months, the majority of property sales in Croydon involved terraced properties which sold for an average price of £421,298. Flats sold for an average price of £306,857, while semi-detached properties fetched £521,585.

The priciest area within Croydon was Woodcote Green (£890,681) and the least expensive was Forestdale (£297,434).

These prices represent a 7% rise on those in the prior 12 months.

What our CEO, Mary Anne Bowring, likes about Croydon

The area of Croydon is a great place to live for both families and professionals alike. For instance, for families, there are numerous schools in the area including Harris Academy South Norwood and St Andrew's CofE School. For professionals, as mentioned before, stations like London Victoria are a short train away.

Things to do in Croydon

There are many things to do in Croydon that make it a great place to live. As an example, you could visit the Fairfield Halls, which recently reopened on the 16th September 2019, after a £30 million redevelopment. At this venue, there are many incredible things to see, from plays and musicals in the Ashcroft Playhouse, to magnificent classical concerts and spectacular pantomimes in the Phoenix Concert Hall and so much more.

Croydon Cultural Scene

The culture in Croydon plays an important role in the area, this is shown by the fact that Croydon has won the race to be London's Borough of Culture in 2023, which provides the area with £1.3m in funding. The sum will be spent on celebrating the borough’s creativity, diversity and inclusivity through 10 flagship cultural events and hundreds of community projects. The ambitious programme will involve 20,000 participants, every school in the area, 300 volunteers, audiences of over 250,000 and over 1,500 artists.
