Ringley Reach Out To Potential Apprentices

Award winning property company, The Ringley Group, who have recently been shortlisted for another award (a National Training Award by Investors In People), attended a week-long event called the London Apprenticeship Introduction To London Apprentices. Organised by the London Apprenticeship Company (LCA), it aimed to link up companies seeking apprentices with people aged 16-23 who were looking for apprenticeships.

Previous events organised by LCA have been attended by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson. Jasper Gray (an apprentice at Ringley) and Lee Gregori (Client Liaison Officer at Ringley) attended the event on Thursday 14th July 2011. Within 6 months, Jasper has gained the confidence to liaise with customers, take initial instructions/follow projects through and appoint new Directors using the Company Secretary system. Lee commented that the event provided direction and insight for lost souls, given how hard the market is. He also felt it was useful as people have a perception that a property company is just an estates agency, but Ringley has many departments, including an estates agency, which work together, such as a legal, surveying and property management team. It was important that we educated potential apprentices about the importance of working with other departments too as this is integral these days.

LCA have found apprenticeships for over 6,000 people since they were set up two years ago. During the day, they discussed case studies and talked about the various departments which apprentices could work in, such as Business Administration or Customer Services. The introduction ended with a survival challenge, where people had to rank objects (such as a fire lighter, whisky bottle and map) in order or importance if they were in a survival situation. Sectors represented at the event included property, legal, contractors, banks and administration.
