Deposit Free renting with PlanetRent

Offering Deposit-Free Rentals Safely and Easily

Using our lettings platform, PlanetRent, agents and landlords can now offer deposit-free rentals in a secure and seamless way. The average deposit paid by tenants is now well over £1,300, which is approximately half a month’s income.

This financial burden can be a major obstacle for renters looking for a new home. However, with PlanetRent, landlords can offer an alternative solution while ensuring they remain fully protected.

A Better Deal for Tenants

Tenants benefit greatly from deposit-free renting with PlanetRent. Our partnership with Reposit allows renters to move into their new home without having to pay a large upfront deposit, making the process more affordable and accessible.

At the same time, landlords using PlanetRent can rest assured that their properties remain secure, with financial protection guaranteed by Reposit.

How It Works

The process is simple and effective:

  • Renters purchase a ‘reposit’ for just one week’s rent as a service fee.
  • Reposit then provides market-leading property protection for eight weeks' rent to landlords using PlanetRent.
  • This system requires minimal administration and involves zero risk for landlords.

Helping Tenants Facing Financial Struggles

According to Landlord Today, a survey of over 4,500 private landlords by the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA) revealed that:

  • 9 out of 10 landlords with tenants struggling to pay rent are actively doing what they can to help.

By adopting PlanetRent and Reposit, landlords and agents can provide a solution that allows them to accept renters whose personal finances might not traditionally meet deposit requirements.

Expanding Housing Access for More Renters

The PlanetRent–Reposit partnership makes renting more inclusive and accessible, especially for:

  • Lower-income individuals who might struggle to pay large deposits.
  • Young professionals starting their first job.
  • Graduates leaving education and looking for their first home.

This ensures that landlords remain fully protected, while opening up opportunities for a wider range of responsible tenants.

Making Renting Hassle-Free for Everyone

Mary-Anne Bowring, Group Managing Director at Ringley and creator of PlanetRent, explains:

“Deposits help make sure that landlords are protected from any extra damage caused by tenants beyond reasonable wear and tear. For many renters, they are a huge financial burden.”

The partnership between PlanetRent and Reposit eliminates much of the stress and difficulty from the traditional rental process.

  • Landlords and agents benefit from a fully automated, cloud-based platform.
  • Tenants enjoy a smooth, hassle-free rental experience without needing to pay a large deposit upfront.
