Coventry: The Neighborhood Guide

Located in the heart of the Midlands, Coventry is a diverse city surrounded by the Warwickshire countryside. It offers quick and easy access to popular UK cities and has some world-class attractions. It also has a thriving food scene, giving food lovers another reason to settle in Coventry. Over the past few years, the city has seen a surge in the number of people looking for homes because, apart from the other facilities, Coventry also offers affordable homes. There are several good schools, and, more importantly, the crime rate is the lowest compared to any West Midlands city.

Best areas to live in Coventry?

Young professionals will find the area between the two highly-rated universities the best to buy a home. Here, everything is within walking distance. The atmosphere is lively, and youngsters will have plenty to do to remain active. The west and south parts of Coventry also offer excellent educational facilities. The wards of Earlsdon, Wainbody, Woodlands, and Cheylesmore have excellent facilities for basic and advanced education. For families, real estate experts recommend Westwood Heath in CV4. Many new housing developments are coming up here. The place is famous for its ancient woodland. Those looking for good value can consider the properties around Whitmore Park, north of the city centre. The transport links to the city are impressive, and there are several popular retail outlets and schools in this area.

The cost of homes in Coventry

The CV4 postcode is said to be the priciest area in Coventry for buying a home. The homes are large, and the added attraction is the wide streets with plenty of shades. It is home to the reputable University of Warwick. Prices in the CV3 and CV5 postcodes are also above the city average. CV3 covers the area from Warwick Park to Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve and Coombe Valley. CV5 begins west of the city centre and goes northwest to Allesley and Pickford Green. You can find homes within your budget in the CV1 city centre, CV6, the north, and CV2, the northeast of the city.

Crime in Coventry

Being one of the safest cities in the West Midlands, Coventry has consistently ranked below the national average crime rate.

Things to do in Coventry

Coventry was named the UKs City of Culture 2021 for a number of reasons. You can do many things here, from uncovering its rich history to enjoying the fantastic nightlife. A weekend visit to the Coventry Cathedral can be an enriching experience. Exploring the Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve is another main attraction. The Coombe Abbey Park and its high ropes are an attraction you cannot miss.

Public Transport

Coventry offers train links from the city centre station. There are three local stations, Canley, Coventry Arena, and Tile Hill. Birmingham can be accessed via the New Street Station in just 20 minutes. London Euston is just an hour away. Coventry's excellent road network makes reaching other parts of the country easy. Take the M6 to go towards Liverpool. The M40 takes you to the south and towards London. The M69 connects Coventry to Leicester. The A45 leads to the M42 and M45 for access to the M1. The nearest airport is the Birmingham Airport, just 11 miles west of the city. Other options are Luton Airport, about 1.5 hours away, and London Heathrow, which can be reached in one hour and 40 minutes.
