History of Llanishen

During the Battle of the Heath in 1089, the Normans fought the Welsh Celts, the victorious Normans expanded Llanishen, starting work on a church to the north which was completed in the 12th century.

Although Oliver Cromwell had ties with Llanishen the village remained undisturbed until 1871. However later on, the development of Llanishen railway station allowed wealthy Cardiff business people to commute from the village to the centre of city easily, resulting in the population expanding by 20,000 between 1851 and 1871.

Since then, the development of the village has been through redevelopment of the former farming and military land into commercial usage and housing development.

A development that is offering 4 & 5 bedroom homes in a perfect location that is located next to the reservoir, surrounded by mature trees and foliage and only a short distance away from the vibrant Cardiff City Centre. The location also has great links into the city via the M4.

Pentland Close

Pentland Close is a £10 million development close to Chiltern Close and Malvern Drive, featuring 82 apartments that are targeted for older people in Cardiff. There will be a community of apartments built over five three-storey blocks. Each block will contain between 11 to 19 apartments.

Near the leisure centre there are additional activites suited for families including BUZZ Parks which is Wales' largest Trampoline Superpark, and Jump which is an indoor play & party venue.

Llanishen Cultural Scene

Llanishen even has pop culture ties, this is through Richard Marquand who was born in Llanishen and then went on to be the film director of the Return of the Jedi.
